Avionics is defined as the electronic systems that integrate the attitude, navigation, software and controls systems on the spacecraft. These systems are integral parts of every spacecraft and enable it to complete its mission.
Here at Planetary Resources, our avionics team focuses on rapid iteration and low power consumption in our modular architecture. We develop cost-efficient, scalable avionics for a wide range of spacecraft designs and missions. Planetary Resources’ ability to accommodate many different payloads, instruments and spacecraft configurations comes from our unique approach. The result is an extremely capable low-cost spacecraft avionics platform.
Our Arkyd spacecraft caters to each specific mission quickly – whether its observing an asteroid in deep space, analyzing algae blooms on Earth, or searching for water on the moons of Mars.
Planetary Resources conceptualizes and develops Arkyd’s avionics in-house at our Asteroid Prospecting Spacecraft Headquarters in Redmond, WA. We develop fault-tolerant systems already radiation hardened to ensure that when Arkyd faces intense radiation interference our system can quickly recover.
We approach Avionics a bit differently here at Planetary Resources. Because of our philosophy, rapid iteration and willingness to innovate, we create a modular, low-power, cost efficient avionics that allows us to operate at an exponential rate of production, for a fraction of the cost.
