Planetary Resources has an interdisciplinary team working to develop a new generation of spacecraft. The company’s highly skilled staff is designing, prototyping, building, testing, environmental testing, assembling, and operating…all under one roof. By vertically integrating the process, Planetary Resources is able to achieve building 90% of the systems entirely in-house, leveraging a tightly-integrated design process and providing more capability with a smaller team. This results in achieving higher performance spacecraft for lower system cost.
From breadboards to fully integrated embedded systems, Planetary Resources fabricates and integrates the avionics with their highly experienced team in the Electrical Fabrication Lab.
The ISO Class 7 (Class 10,000) Cleanroom at Planetary Resources allows for multiple spacecraft builds and component assemblies in parallel. Flight hardware bonded stores within the cleanroom enables strict and documented control of spaceflight hardware and other critical projects.
The Optical Instruments Lab is where the team at Planetary Resources builds and tests the imaging and communication systems. The functionality of the lab enables the team to build star trackers, complete laser communications tests and experiments, and develop instrument systems for use on the Arkyd series of spacecraft.
The Machine Shop includes 3-Axis CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, 1.5 x 1.5 meter CNC WaterJet, high-definition 3D printer, and post-processing tools.
The team conducts spacecraft day-in-the-life tests and monitors spacecraft telemetry and position from Mission Operations.
